Do you want to enter the fitness world?
First I would like to tell you that I didn't know what this word meant, so I went to Wikipedia and found this concept.
fitness: set of gymnastic exercises specially indicated to achieve and maintain a good physical condition.
Based on my experience I can say that I certify it and that this concept fell short because there are infinite benefits that are obtained both mentally and physically that provide happiness and health to your life.
Today I come to tell you about my experience in the fitness world in this 2023.
As every year we all have life resolutions and one in particular that I had been wishing for a while was to do more exercise but continuously, surrounded by people who had the same needs as mine and share with them experiences, dynamics, recipes, adventures and much more.
Behind all this there was only one purpose: "Change my lifestyle" I wanted to improve my physical condition, get out of the house, eat healthy, meet new people and have fun.
For a long time I had been hearing everywhere the word Fit, fitness, I who do not know much English thought that this should be simply about doing sports and nothing more; but now that I am here I have realized that this is a very wide world and that it is not new at all, this comes from many years ago, only before it was called aerobics.
Nowadays, everywhere you go, everything has the word Fit, it seems to be the name that people like the most. If you go to the bakery they call it pan-fit, if you go to buy clothes they call it shop-fit, recently I saw that there are fit ice creams, fit food and everything is a fit craze.
Basically the fitness world comprises three important things: the development of a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet and continuous exercise. Well, these three things I have tried to maintain in my day to day life, ah, but yes! To do this you must do it with a real commitment, without any lies in between, without deception, without any policeman who goes after you to tell you what you should or should not eat.
I could say that this started last year when in an existential crisis I realized that I was fat and that the clothes I was planning to wear for my son Fabian's graduation did not fit me. It was impossible to attend such important events with a blouse super tight to the body and run the risk that a button would go off in the middle of the event and I would be embarrassed trying to cover myself with anything to be able to get in a photo.
In June 2022 I weighed 69 kilos and a little more, I had never weighed so much in my life, it's amazing how in my youth I struggled to gain a few pounds and now it's the opposite.
This chapter made me realize many things I was doing wrong; without wanting to justify those extra kilos I realized that I was eating everything, every weekend I invented to make cakes of all kinds, at home they lived delighted with pineapple cakes, chocolate cake, bread cake, quesillos, sweets, special meals with a lot of fat and flour.
I realized that it was time to stop, that not only me but also my husband and my children had to wake up and make a change in our lives.
I started by asking them to eat healthier, I asked them not to bring me any more lollipops, nor to give me any more of these arrangements loaded with lots of sweets, especially chocolate, which have become fashionable to celebrate any special date. I asked my son Israel and my husband not to give me any more packets of lollipops (which I love) and that if they wanted to give me something with fruit, whether it was patillas, grapes, apples, tangerines or cambur.
Making rules in the house was a way of asking them to please help me, it was important their participation to achieve the goal I had set to lose a few kilos before my son's graduation. That's how we stopped making fried things at home, I stopped eating candy, flour and pasta; we stopped buying food on the street on Fridays, I started walking an hour every day in the afternoons.
They say that you have to start somewhere and that is how I opened the doors to what I have achieved today. Thanks to every effort I managed to lose 9 kilos, in the month of December I had achieved my goal of being at 60 kilos and I took a break in that month to get off the diet a little and so I could eat the tasty ham bread, my mother's delicious beechnuts, the delicious meals that friends invited us and of course the occasional drink of alcohol.
As I told you at the beginning, I entered this world with a purpose, I wanted to continue with this rhythm of life that I had liked very much, by that time I had already fallen in love with leaving home, breathing the fresh air in the mountains or in the stadium where I shared with people who did the same as me. I liked to go with my friends on Thursdays or Fridays to dance therapy, the truth is that all my life I have loved to dance and to do it with rhythm and with that sweetness that the instructors transmit is something incredible.
That's how in February I decided to participate in a group that meets every afternoon to do different sports activities with a spectacular teacher named Caรญ, she inspires you, she catches you with her unique style and invites you to continue for you, for your health, your wellbeing.
How nice it was to meet these beautiful people, here I have made very nice friendships, there are more than 50 women who like what we do, who are like you and me, who have their homes, their jobs, their worries, but we take an hour a day for us, to love and pamper ourselves.
Some call it the happy hour and in that they are absolutely right, in that hour I love myself, I love myself and I accept myself as I am. In that hour I don't think about anyone else but myself and I thank God for having put them in my path.
With them I do all kinds of exercises, one day we work arms, another day legs, abdomen, among others. The class I like the most is the one on Thursdays because I sing and dance as if there was no one else on the court.
Another thing that has pleased me a lot is that as a result of this change that I have been doing is that I have bought a lot of sportswear that is fashionable, I have already left the pain aside and now I wear leggings, lycra, sports flannels, caps, shorts and I just need a little more action to put on some skirts that are fashionable and look great on the body.
From my humble experience I can only tell you that everything here is positive, so I can only invite you to motivate yourselves, that's right friends, do not wait for anyone to go out to do some physical activity, I lost a lot of time waiting for my friends who are still looking for excuses to stay at home.
Look for something that motivates you, the emotional part is important, the important thing is to do it for you and no one else. If I did it, if I did it, you can do it too.
