The best part is when its all over = this was the first eye
I must say I really liked the "Karate suits" as opposed to the old fashioned hospital gowns. Well done to the designer.
My daughter found this amazing YouTube video for me as I was undergoing cataract removal surgery.
I must say it really helped the anxiety to not knowing what the procedure was. A friend had spoken about getting injected into the eyeball and Eden had gone with another friend to get stiches removed and apparently screamed when the stitch was removed.
So nice that I can write about my experience and say what a wonderful seamless time it was.
Going to hospital for the second eye was a lot less stressful.
Also knowing that I would be awake for the whole procedure was difficult to understand but the anaesthetic even though local and not general was very effective. The second time around I tried to remember the procedure but did not remember much - so the most stressful part was waiting for my turn.
Left eye done and a week later just before the right eye
love the Karate suits

My operation was done by Dr Gray and she was truly remarkable. Also the Johannesburg Eye Hospital in Northcliffe is really a great hospital. The staff were friendly and kind.
It was wonderful to be able to read the subtitles of the series we were watching on the screen.
I had to buy a +2 pair of glasses at the chemist and it was so good to see that my sight without the glasses was better than having them on.
After three weeks now I will go for an assessment to see about a new pair of reading glasses. My long distance has been sorted out.
Very grateful for modern technology and can't wait for the three weeks to go by and see what it will be like with my new reading glasses.
I am most grateful to my daughter who has been a wonderful nurse during the whole procedure and putting 3 drops into each eye, 4 times a day with 5 minutes between the drops - so its been a lot of pressure for her too.
