Dear Hivers
I almost missed this edition! there're too many interesting things around, but I have been under the weather for a few days. I'm glad that I can spare some time to join this. Thanks to
who keep this running. This 43rd edition really make me thinking about what's the most expensive things I ever bought.
I was known for my generosity in my family, because I don't mind buying expensive things for any members of my family as long as I have money in my bank accounts. When My late father still living with us, I purchased a travel wheelchair for him, so he can move around the house, at least my mom won't need to carry him to the bathroom. I took the wheelchair myself from Jakarta to my hometown, Lhokseumawe in 2022. But, He tried hard to keep walking and refused to use the chair. 2 weeks before he left us, he was falling from his bed to get to the bathroom by himself. Later, a little neighbor who was unable to walk, borrowed the wheelchair for a couple of months until she can walk back.
When Hubby and I went back to my hometown in February 2023, We discussed about how nice it would be if we have our own scooter to go wherever we wanted during our stay in my hometown. Even though I already had 2 motorcycles. One is riding by my 8th little sister and another one is riding by my nephew. I told my brother-in-law (husband of my little sister) who lives with my parents at that time to help us find a big scooter to purchase. He took us to a showroom at the neighboring district, North Aceh. The place known as Simpang Rangkaya or Rangkaya Junction, there's a famous motorcycle showroom which provides an easy and good system to get a new or old scooters.
He said that my sister known the owner of the showroom and it will be easier for us to get a good one. We spent about 2 hours to find one that meet our expectation. My hubby is a fan of Yamaha scooter/motorbike. So, we kept our eyes only on that brand. Too bad, a few nice red scooters already sold out and we need to wait if there're another scooters coming. I was thinking of buying a new one, but the showroom owner said it's impossible to get a new one within a week.
We have a plan to leave for Banda Aceh in next two days with the scooter if we made it. We didn't decide to get anything right away. My Brother-in-law told us that we can wait a couple hours, because there's a chance to get what I want after lunch. We left for lunch at nearby restaurant and back to the showroom. Right when I entered the simple showroom, a nice looking silver scooter passed by my side. My Bil winked and pointed his finger on it. I agreed and left for a cup of coffee waiting for him to negotiate with the showroom owner.
An hour later, He called and told me that I can decide to bought it by cash or credit with 12 months installments. If by cash, the price is $1800, but if I want to pay by installments the total price would be $2200 (the same price as the new one at that time) with $1000 as down payment. We could take it home after we paid the DP. I discussed with my hubby and he said it's up to me to decide, it's my money anyway. Besides, We won't take it with us when we left our hometown later. I told My Bil, I brought $1000 with me and ask him to check the story behind the scooter and its documents.
I decided to pay it by cash with a condition, I need the documents ready in 2 days. After a short negotiation, since the DP already paid and the documents will need time to take care of, the showroom owner let us drive the maxi scootic home and I'd be back tomorrow to pay the rest. Hubby was doing the test ride and find out that there's an issue with the tire and the key. The standby Mechanic took care of it within 30 minutes and we rode back home with it smoothly.
One of the most expensive things I ever bought is the scootic, which now ride by my sister in my hometown. When Hubby and I go back to my hometown, We will ride on that scootic as our local transportation. It was worth it. My mom didn't really like it because she would prefer a car. I can't afford a car for now, maybe later (Insya Allah).
My neighborhood already noisy with the fireworks, even though new year will come in 3 more hours, LOL. My neighbors are having a community dinner at the multipurpose small park we had in our neighborhood. My cat, Pedro is hiding under my hubby's feet because he's afraid of the noise.
