This last couple weeks has been a blast. Not really. Right after my last post we had a little hiccup with our plumbing in the house. After preparing dinner and using the garbage disposal, the wife came to me and said the kitchen sink was clogged.
I figured a little elbow grease with a plunger or maybe some Liuid PLumber would do the trick. Neither were the answer for this stubborn clog. I checked the trap and pipes under the sink. There was nothing as well. So, we broke down and called a plumber.
The plumber quickly ran a drain auger or "snake" down the drain and unclogged the pipe. Eureka! We were back in business and my wallet was lighter.
A couple hours later I heard the wife scream from downstairs that we had a leak. I waddled downstairs and found a small puddle on the floor with a line of water running up the basement wall to a pipe. It just so happened the pipe had been patched before and the plumber must have knocked the patch loose with his "snake".
Since the plumber wasn't going to cover any damage to already patched pipes, I called a handyman I use. Luckily he was able to come over at a late hour and do a quick fix you see in the picture above.
We started looking at the copper pipes a little closer. They are all looking rough, some have been patched previously. We even found a small leak in another joint. Needless to say, we will be having all our copper drain pipes replaced next week with PVC.
My wallet is getting really light now!
The day after our dinner with the Marine veterans, the wife went to give the dogs a bath and found we had a flat tire on her car. The cool thing is our insurance has road side assistance. We called and had it towed, the tire repaired and the car serviced while it was at the shop.
It was just one more thing to add to the pile on...and the drain on the wallet.
To top all that off, I have been drawing blanks when it comes to writing. Even with all the writing prompts and contests here on Hive the juices just aren't flowing.
I find myself starting on a post, but then deleting it after typing a paragraph or two. Eveen with this post, I started and stopped several times today before actually pulling the trigger and finishing this thing out.
One of the reasons I decided to post was I was motivated today by a little message I received from .
It seems after powering up just over a couple hundred Hive it put me across the Dolphin threshold. Never thought that would happen so soon. But between investing and rewards, I made it. Now the goal is Orca, which I am not even sure how much HP I need for that. Maybe someone can tell me in the comments?
Anyway, that is enough catching up for now. I do hope you all are having a great weekend and get a good start to your week for those closing their Sunday out.
Thanks for reading,
Joe
