All is calm, all is bright

Christmas is here, The presents are wrapped and most have already made their place under the tree. But let me not rush too hastily into it. I want to read the mystery of the season, the Christmas story, and discover its power; attend to the meaning of it all and to the challenge e story poses as to how I live and what I regard as important. May I hear the voices of angels and follow the weary shepherds – the refuse, the forgotten, the cast-asides – and go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, and see it again as if for the very first time, if only in my dreams. The waiting was the hardest part, but it can be the best part too.

There is so much good and beautiful in the world! You just have to train yourself to look for it! My favorite example is any children's performance. Orchestra, dance, chorus, band... look at all the family members crammed in to witness a brief few moments of their child's accomplishment! If that isn't love, I don't know what is! I watched the movie, Letters from Mother Theresa this summer and it struck me, the amount of love that one small woman was able to spread across the world. Not only did she alter the lives of everyone she touched; but, each of them went on to do beautiful things. Love is the power that drives that beauty.

The charm of the light gave softness to the illusion in my mind. Sweet memories of the bygone, the scent of pine drifting through the house, fireplace crackling, turning my thoughts to those I love. Amid the glitter, beside the silence of the night, all is calm, all is right.

Oh, Christmas! I ❤️ you. Oh, yes I do. The Season of Joy. Oh, Christmas, you do it every time.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

So he paused. And the Grinch put his hand to his ear.
And he did hear a sound rising over the snow.
It started in low. Then it started to grow.
But the sound wasn't sad! Why, this sound sounded merry!
It couldn't be so! But it WAS merry! VERY!
He stared down at Whoville! The Grinch popped his eyes!
Then he shook! What he saw was a shocking surprise!
Every Who down in Whoville, the tall and the small,
Was singing! Without any presents at all!
He HADN'T stopped Christmas from coming! IT CAME!
Somehow or other, it came just the same!
And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so?"
"It came with out ribbons! It came without tags!"
"It came without packages, boxes or bags!"
And he puzzled three hours, till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!
Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store."
"Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!”
