COMING OFF A NATURAL HIGH
The older I get, the more I appreciate life. Everyone loves a good time, but when was the last time you could say... that was the best time ever.
It didn't happen in a minute, it layered on as the weekend progressed. We were lucky enough to
have two of our four children here on the #homestead which included 3 of our 7 grands. We fished, and oh boy did we catch 'em.
The two youngest were pulling them up like crazy.
With a little help from dad, they were hauling them in.
Memories flooded in as I sat in my easy chair watching the joy of the simple pleasure of catching a fish. I recalled this same picture of my children when they were young. A sense of peace enveloped me. I thought I could go now, that I had done my job and the kids would be alright.
The pond was stocked and just maybe the dads I knew would fish with the kids on Father's Day again and again. It's part of our tradition, even if Pop and Grammy went on a very long vacation, we would still be here in spirit.
We will teach the children how to find us in cyberspace, on #hive to read our stories, to get to know us. To see how much we loved them. To know and appreciate the farm.
I hope all my children have learned to respect nature, to know we need to be one with nature, as we are with family. There is only one earth, keep it green. I think they have learned that lesson. The simple joys of life give us the best return.
The joy of losing the first tooth and the belief that there is a tooth fairy, priceless. It's a simple joy that goes a long way with a 5-year-old.
Her little sister shares the joy.
The tye-dyed twins, daughter and granddaughter making tee's for the company.
The simple joy of sharing Christmas Day with our first born and his beautiful dog Hunter.
As a #silverblogger, I know many of you out there in cyberspace share the same feelings. I think that's the real blessing of being our age, we know how to appreciate the small gifts in life. Every day takes on meaning, especially with those that are dear to our hearts. My life has been well spent. My family has always been my anchor, it began with wonderful parents who never stopped supporting me and gave me as much freedom as was appropriate for my age and I have followed in their footsteps.
I wasn't a very strict parent, I was really a pushover, but my children learned at a very young age to respect their elders, to work hard at whatever they did, and to be honest and caring. What more could a mother ask for?
Yup, I have had my challenges bringing up four children, but even with the good, bad, and the ugly, I feel a sense of peace knowing the kids are going to be alright.
Feeling Happy.
Much love,
Jackie O
