Yesterday was cold and miserable. So much so that I was concerned that my rolls would not rise and mother wouldn't perform for the loaves I had to start.
I decided to make marmalade. Not just to stockpile (I'll come back to this) but to create some warmth.
Everything (except the kitchen sink) went on the stove. Marmalade, French onion soup in the making and, of course, the proving dough between knock downs, and mother. All wrapped up.
Both the marmalade and the soup are long cooks. Like several hours after a couple of hours of cutting and chopping to reduce to the appropriate point. After lunch. After getting into the kitchen at 7.30am.
At the end of the day, another pretty batch of three fruit marmalade with lemon next on the agenda. Soon.
Why? Because I have sold 37 jars of marmalade in six weeks and 205 since I started counting.
Yesterday was cold and miserable. So much so that we weren't sure the market would happen in its usual guise.
It was a wet, cold and snowy start to the market. Only the die hards.
The sun came out, briefly.
And there was a most glorious rainbow over that mountsian that brought customers and "prevented" my providing evidence.
On the way home from the market we overshot our turning. On purpose.
Until next time, be well
