I am not going to apologise, but rather warn: I shall be both lamenting the construction noise from across the road and celebrating the silence that falls at the end of the day. Especially as it starts at 7.30am. So when it stops at 4.30 and for lunch, I am grateful. Fridays are another matter, though. They work through lunch so we judder and shout our way through the meal.
Shadow and late afternoon light thanks to the clouds.
I took both of these photos from roughly the same spot when I looked up from my desk, realising that the noise had stopped. The light and the shadows, as they often do, at this time of the year, struck me. I had to go and admire them and listen to the silence.
For some reason, last night's mushroom omelette was the best I have made in a while. I didn't do anything unusual: slow cooked mushrooms with garlic, balsamic onion marmalade (with garlic, of course) and fresh parsley.
It must have been the speckledy egg!! Perhaps it was the choice of crockery made by people we know and care about...
Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:
- re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
- and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
- From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

- lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on
