There is something to be said about settling into a rhythm. So it is with my Fridays. Since I started baking loaves as well as buns, I the days I also had to make a batch of koeksisters had become a challenge. For two reasons: my enormous kitchen...
I have just that one real working space for rolling, kneading and bottling, and... With another little space, just big enough for a chipping board next to the stove. I have to be super organised and get my timing right. I am still learning to pick my battles. As it were.
So, now, and for the moment and now I am a little more disciplined about timing, Friday is a little easier to manage. Oh, and because other of my hustles don't stop for Friday, I now move my laptop to the weekend office.
This is my view from the couch. It was just a little thing when we brought it from Cape Town and planted it here. The plumbago has at last formed the screen between us and the road that we wanted. A bit of a setback because of the drought that killed all the vygies, but they have been replanted and will soon provide the green mulch we want.
In between kneads and rolls, I made chicken liver pâté and hummus. And this week's salad.
In the jar this week: marinated chickpea salad with baby spinach. Plant-based using season peppers, cucumber and red onion and with an olive oil, lemon juice and cumin dressing.
Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:
- re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
- and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
- From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

- lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on
