So we come to the end of the first (almost) normal and five-day week of 2022. It's almost normal because although I resumed my other day job(s), I relocated my office to what I call my "weekend office"; also known as the couch. Because there was another cricket match and I'm glad I did. This time, South Africa won so the series is even Stephens with India. I'll come back to the couch office bit in a bit. I did, though, have a "someone" constantly watching my back. This is Rambo's now favourite spot. Who, a year or so ago, would have thought? Although a little warm on a 30+°C (86°F) day, in the cool of an evening, Rambo makes a welcome neck warmer!
With the resumption of the usual routine, Friday was back to being kitchen day ahead of this morning's market (and we came home just after 11 am in swealtering 35,5°C ((96°F) and increasing) sun. Typical of a post festive season market, it was a little slow after the initial rush.
This week's jar salad was my friend, Nina's yummy aubergine (brinjal) and tomato salad.
And some late bottled apricots and fresh apricot chutney and which were the product of last weekend's work (and we won't mention almost severing my finger opening a bottle of vinegar 🤣).
I am particularly delighted with my red onion and olive tart: I used to be terrified of making pastry (as I have probably mentioned a thousand times) but thanks to Sunday Suppers I've grown in confidence and plan to do more - pastry. And tarts! And tartes tatin...
The days ahead promise proper summer. Of course, having gone from freezing weather, everyone is complaining. For my part, I'll still take the heat over winter any day.
About the couch office: they say that a change is as good as a holiday, and so it was for me, this week. I was more exhausted when I hit the office and the day job than I thought. It was only on Wednesday that I began to feel at least sort of human. Once I recovered my focus, I was a whole lot more productive than I realised. So I've decided: the next cricket match starts on Tuesday, I might temporarily occupy the weekend office. Except if I have to have a meeting. That backdrop behind Rambo, not to mention the webcam view up my left nostril is not very professional! 🤣
Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:
- re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
- and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
- From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.
