Yesterday was another busy one but The Sandbag House is beginning to right itself again. After refreshing the photos for the Little Room, I thought I'd "do" the bsthroom, too. So, of course, as usual I am not confining myself to just three photos... I still have to update the site.
First time visitors to our home often say it is worth it just for the bathroom.
It's eclectic and unashamedly over the top. And I love it.
The pod chandelier was made by a local. The muslin curtains were originally a swag in our second home together and the grey voile, a second hand find in MA's shop - when she had one. The gilt mirror behind the bath came out of my late parents home 22 years ago and must be at least 30 years' old.
The crystal door knob came from a friend's shop in Paarl, Toca Madeira. It is the only new, out of-the-box item.
The basin, we have at last discovered, was crafted by a local potter who is now long retired and no longer working.
Then, supper
Another flavour experiment: poached duck egg on a bed of lentils - the Moroccan lentil salad from last week's market that stores so well in a jar.
With a side salad.
Finally
A Gandalf cuddle.
Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:
- re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
- and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
- From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

- lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on
