A stormy Monday here in our side of town that started late afternoon yesterday. A tropical cyclone locally-called "Karding" is bombarding our region with light and moderate but at times really heavy rains and gusts. While some parts of the region lost power, ours is still on and it's one which I'm thankful about today. The typhoon is expected to exit the country by tomorrow and we're hoping and praying it would go without leaving any damages to people, places and properties.
On days like these, we find warmth and safety inside our own abode, hence, bed weather days for us until the storm passes.
Meanwhile, I'm feeling a bit of guilt as I looked back at what transpired yesterday. While the husband and I were busy with our own things, Dad arrived at one in the afternoon from their church. Mom is no longer that agile and has difficulty walking so only him, my niece and my brother plus his two kids go to mass on Sundays. Yesterday however, my old man was alone. Said he spent some time chitchatting with our cousins before he came.
Anyhow, we served him lunch consisting of chopped lettuce and some thinly sliced bell pepper, tuna flakes and eggs on the sides (left my phone in the lil office so there wasn't any photo taken yesterday). He generously squeezed the sliced lemon on the veggies but we noticed he didn't touch the eggs. The husband and I were surprised.
How could we not know he doesn't eat eggs? We know very well that he doesn't eat processed food, but eggs? He mentioned there are some food that his body no longer receive well like they used to be and that his eating habits have changed. Well... that's something new to remember :)
He stayed until 5 pm and we talked about many different things until he drove away with a bag of ripe lemon fruits and two grafted stems that he wanted to grow in their yard. He didn't want to sleep over because he was thinking of Mom although my niece is with her.
I realized we've not been home since July 25th on Mom's early birthday celebration. Although we are connected through phone calls and text messages, but perhaps, Dad just wanted to check on how we really are doing so he came and I'm happy that he did.
Soon, we'll give them a visit too...
