Hello, friends, it's a pleasure to greet you. This is my first time posting in this community, and I'd like to start with the following question: Who was your favorite person growing up? Did you have a favorite person growing up?
When I read the question, several favorite people immediately came to mind because it's impossible to say I only had one; among them were my sisters, grandmother, aunts, and, of course, my parents, but I've decided to talk about my cousin, who was part of my childhood and grew up with me.
My cousin's name is Maritza. She is the daughter of my dad's sister and lived very close to my house. We are the same age, with only a nine-month difference, so we went to school together until we finished elementary school. I remember when they gave us arepas with melted cheese for breakfast at school, and neither of us liked cheese, so we threw the arepas in the school trash cans. It was our secret; the teachers could never figure out which of their students were doing it. We covered for each other in the mischief we got into. It should be noted that today I don't agree with what we did with the arepas.
We were always together, running around with one of my older sisters.
My cousin helped us get my dad to let us go out to the square to talk to our friends. We would say that my aunt needed us to do some shopping at the grocery store and needed me to go with her; that way, they would give us permission and we would stay in the town square to chat with the boys.
We always went out together to the parties held in our town and organized trips to the river with our other cousins and my brother; we had a great time.
That's how we shared our childhood and adolescence, until I left for the city of Mérida and she stayed in our town, got married, and had two children; now she is the grandmother of a beautiful boy. We always kept in touch. Despite the distance and the fact that we each had our own lives, we continued to share our secrets, joys, and sorrows. Whenever I needed advice or support, she was always there for me.
I am grateful to life for giving me the opportunity to be part of her life and to have her as my favorite person while I was growing up.
Well, this is how I am participating in the initiative; I hope you like it and I will be back soon.
