There are a lot of things I fantasize about doing and, it's weird that I'm seeing these as some sort of 'fantasy'. It's not as if I want to ride on a dragon or board a spaceship to Mars. Nope. It's nothing as crazy as that. Although, I wouldn't pass on the opportunity. Hehe. I love adventures.
However, I feel the need to express this and I need to say it right... The things that I've always wanted to do since I was 10 years of age till this very moment are things that are normal and maybe 'casual' for most people. But, somehow, they are things I've never experienced in person.
How often do y'all go on a vacation with your family?
You know, something as 'simple' as a 3-day vacation to a nice place. Rent a nice vacation home in a cool town. Explore the town and visit nice tourist areas together. Eat street food together. Order food and enjoy together in the vacation home. Stuff like that. Pack your things and travel back home after exhausting the duration of the vacation.
Well, is that too much to get?
I don't think so!
For some people, going for a family vacation is almost considered trivial because they have been doing it for as long as they can remember and some even include the extended side of their family when going for such vacations. I know a friend that went on a cruise with her entire family. Gosh! This happened in the last quarter of 2022. Hearing the stories and seeing all the pictures they took made me so jealous, in a very good way. Hehe.
So far, I can only imagine how it feels to do something like that with family. And, I would like that imagination to be manifested in reality. However, I understand why it never happened all these while. Both of my parents are working class and they have a very busy work life. Working as hard as they did while I was growing up was a necessity because they had a lot of mouths to feed. A House of five children is no joke.
My parents prioritised giving all of us good education and doing all they can to make sure that we wouldn't starve. So, something as 'common' as ordering already-cooked food for the entire family to eat as a meal was kinda luxurious for us. I'm not sure we ever did that as a family.
Now, think about what will happen if anyone said something about going on a vacation to 'God knows where' and renting a vacation home for a whole week and stuff like that. The suggestion would almost sound like a joke and it's a bitter one because, come on! That's not as luxurious as it sounds. However, knowing that we couldn't have any of that because of our finances must be heart-wrenching for everyone.

As far as there is life, there is hope.
I've not made any plans to organize a vacation of this nature for my family anytime soon, but I hope everyone stays healthy and lives a long life while thriving in everything we are doing. I know I will be planning a family vacation for my family when things get good. When that time comes, we will create an everlasting memory together while travelling beyond the borders of Africa.
