Falling off planet Hive and being prodded and poked by masked strangers in white gowns is not my ideal pastime, but it was part of the process to 'fix' a little malfunction, something our bodies tend to do at times, especially when reaching bigger milestones with more years than we'd like to admit 'under the belt' on planet earth!
Yep, no escaping bodily parts showing wear and tear and needing fixing or replacement as age creeps up on one, something I'm sure many of our #silverbloggers can attest to.
This time around was very different from my previous visit to the same hospital when it felt like I'd stepped into a dystopian world where two lost souls were treated extremely unkindly, a fact I brought to the attention of management.
I now found myself among fellow patients who were real angels, and caring nursing staff! What a difference that made!
I was warned that the procedure was going to be painful, but still was not prepared for it!
No sitting at my PC, yep, I'm writing from my cellphone before I doze off again! My laptop gave up the ghost so will also need some overhauling.
The recliner, TV series, magazines, pain meds, and sleep now are my daily companions.
I cannot even concentrate on reading a book!
Getting in and out of bed without using my tummy muscles, is a skill I still have to master in order to avoid excruciating pain.
I swing between log rolls and a simple technique for getting-in-&-out-of-bed post-abdominal surgery.!
The good doctor surgeon should have ordered at least one physio consult while in hospital, which would have saved much agony! Had I done proper research, I would have requested/insisted on it, but trusted the experts to know better!
Yes, those rose-tinted glasses became clouded again, but my ward 'neighbours' thankfully brought back the rosy tints. We were all on the same page, physically and spiritually, which was a great morale booster
Nevertheless, I'm glad to be back home after a longer-than-expected stay due to a minor complication which involved the intermittent escaping of bodily fluid that would have made some grown men pass out 😉.
Fortunately it stopped with good nursing techniques, no surgical intervention required.
How healthy was hospital food?
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate it as a 4!
Not the kind of food one would expect when recuperating in hospital, in fact if you want to know how reflux/GERD feels, book yourself into that hospital and you'll soon know all about it! There admittedly are non-spicy options, still not healthy choices though!
I ate hardly anything except cereal and veggies and was totally flummoxed that there was no fruit on the menu at all!
This is a private hospital, by the way!
Once back at home, my son came to the rescue again, and ordered a load of nourishing soups online.
I'll be all 'souped-up' in more ways than one!
Soft foods, fresh vegetables and fruit, high-fibre breakfast, no red meat, limited fish or chicken, and no starches, is my recommended diet.
Don't want any blockages in the system at all; this old gal and pain ain't no pals, so she'll follow instructions to the T!
It's not even 10am and I already am nodding off while tapping my cellphone screen!
Hoping to pop in more often once I'm out of my cocoon, all souped-up and sitting in my office chair again!
