I was a starry-eyed new Airbnb host retired? from the corporate world when I joined Steemit back on 13 July 2017. I naturally moved over to (っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ HIVE ♥ from the outset. Amazing how that hardfork took place right amid COVID lockdowns. Even more amazing is just how my Crypto tokens came to the rescue when we had to close our BnB doors for about two months.
That was life back in 2020.
How it's all changed.
I want to thank all of my friends, the foodie communities, the Silver Bloggers, our crazy team, and everyone who makes Hive a special place. I've been able to offload a load of baggage here, if one can call it such, but I think my friends know just what I mean.
Life in 2025 is very much different from July of 2017; I've lost my darling man, and my Mom Lily. I lost my dignity recently when I went flying and landed on my butt!
Resulting in me not being able to sit for long periods, hence the posts have been shorter because I now have a pain not up the arse, no, but almost! Suffice it to say it is extremely sore!
Back to the home front! I've been warned by the kiddos - you need to start packing early or else you're going to run out of time. Silly kids, what do they know!
Well...I may have to swallow my words!
Ever since I got a buyer for my house, the gentle easing into the day started changing; slowly at first, but now becoming a frenzy!
I found my little dream home overnight, so with that happening simultaneously, I am snowed under from all sides!
The new owners have asked me to "hold their hands" while they apply for approval with the local municipality and help them by handling bookings till they're more familiar with the running of the BnB. Nice in a way, as it won't be a sudden shift.
I was chatting to my friend , how we both thought living in a digital age meant no more wads of paper. I've never had to deal with so much paperwork!
The house sale, the Offer To Purchase the new house, in an estate that has a wad of forms as thick as an encyclopedia not quite, but..., Service Providers - who to cancel, who to transfer to new owners.
Today was the lengthy insurance quotes for the smaller home. They talk too fast, and the lines are never clear! When I said yes to the second quote, the guy started speaking like he was in fast-forward mode, reading through an entire document! I got excited each time he said, 'ok, so we're done,'...just about...and went back to fast-forward mode, a little later another, 'yes, we're done now,'...only to ramble on again. I think we were done after about six 'we're dones'! And he didn't even sound breathless.
When I say things have been crazy, believe me, I felt like I had lost all my marbles after that call. The wine bottles had run dry, so I ran for the medicine cabinet in search of something to settle my frayed nerves!
Just kidding, of course, I'm not so easily shaken, I know how to zone out when people ramble on!
Back to my Eighth Hiversary; it actually was yesterday, so I'm celebrating a day late!
Every day here on Hive, however, is a celebration! A place where I've met kindred spirits from near and far, learnt a ton about the different cultures: the people, the music, the food, and the beautiful world we live in through our Hivers' travels.
