Battles won and lost

This week, however, I became a fighter!

The year started with a bang, literally, something I wrote about when I spoke of Surviving the Holidays when hubby had a bad fall on his left chest and fractured a rib.
Although I felt really uneasy after the fall, none of us, not even the doctors, realized the harm that was done inside, as it was just a month after having an angiogram and stent to open up the arteries leading to his heart.
I shared this with you when I spoke of How fragile life is.

Then exactly a week ago, I spoke of the value of Friends in Fragile Times, when hubby gave me a REAL scare, and a dear friend became a pro-racetrack driver as we sped off to the hospital late at night!
The fall indeed had damaged one of his arteries, and a second stent followed!
The plumbing is now fixed, as hubby calls it!

Battle between Poe and I

I told you we inherited our son and girlfriend's cat, Poe the Hunter.
He lives in luxury, eats the very best food, sleeps all day long, and hunts at night.

One rule I made was not to let him into our guest bedroom, a big mistake that came back to bite me, in a literal sense at that :)
Poe would have none of that and finally took revenge by attacking me from behind. He simply could not resist biting into my fleshy calf, and darned sore it was too!

So it was off to the doctor when another war broke out!

Battle with Medical providers

I'd rather not go into details, as I ended up with a massive headache yesterday.
Briefly, I was left with ZERO funds in my day-to-day benefits, so all acute meds and medical consultations would have to come from my pocket!
Insulin is very costly as my friend Hive account@dandays spoke of in his BLOG!.

The reason for the mess made by the medical aid appears to be a change in their IT system, as I am not the only one having this and other kinds of issues with claims.
I won this battle after over an hour's discussion with medical aid consultant, so my day-to-day funds have been restored, and chronic meds deducted from the correct funds!

I now have to be refunded by the doctor, and the pharmacy, for the cat bite treatment, after my purse was emptied because of a stupid new ~~disfunctional~~ system that is causing everyone big headaches, I'm told by my doctor's rooms and the pharmacy!

No one however will refund the huge bill I will be getting from my cell phone provider as it took a long while to get the consultants to process all the information!
I must say, in their defense, they were very helpful.
