We'll soon be enjoying cooler weather, steaming bowls of soup, spicy curries, and aromatic casseroles to warm the cockles!
While the seasons are changing, we have sunny days year-round here in South Africa, with summer teasing now and then, bringing some really hot days. We're never satisfied, though, missing the warmth of summer when we're in midwinter, and complaining endlessly about the hot weather once we're in midsummer!
Life's thrown some big curveballs my way, with little gremlins being discovered by my doctors.
My older brother is staying here, as I need to be taken to various medical facilities because I am forbidden to drive till the awful seizures calm down and stabilize.
I've been listening more and more to YouTube Vloggers Nate and Kara since my friend shared their video on Kara's journey with epilepsy. A very brave move for someone who is always in the eyes of the people. At the same time comforting to know that someone so active still carries on and doesn't let it get her down!
Their travel vlogs are fabulous, by the way! I also became a fan since Eric introduced me, but somehow I missed that one.
I'm stuck with that old foe, or maybe not, as they've discovered something that has been causing all kinds of unpleasant and disturbing symptoms. Yes, I thought the hernia was the end, but I'm not let off the hook just yet.
More tests to follow, and I will tell my friends about it once it's clarified. I'm becoming an interesting case study for the doctors with these rare things popping up. It has been no fun, and very costly too!
Small changes at home...
...made a big difference when I returned home after all the ailments. I had an old, large, brownish granite island countertop showing wear and tear with chipped areas all over. The previous owners changed the kitchen cupboards' countertops to black granite, but left the old granite on top of the kitchen island. The new black top matches the rest of the kitchen, but I wanted it shorter and narrower. It's made a big difference by giving more space all around. This was installed when I was having my hernia fixed.
The old one was way too bulky, and one can see the chipped areas at night.
In with the new, way more sleek and more space all around!
I also had an Inverter Split System Air Conditioner installed, and it will be great for keeping the living room at a comfortable temperature, both summer and winter. I learnt that this is a more cost-effective way of keeping the room comfortable in winter, compared to having heaters.
So I am sorry that I've been so scarce, friends, but it was very uncomfortable sitting at my PC after the surgery. I'm looking forward to getting back to Hive and walking and exploring my new environment soon. I'm still very tired so am resting a lot.
I will keep on looking up and face the sun, just like the strelitzia in the first image!
