He sounded shocked on the phone, nearly thirteen thousand kilometers away:
'Mom, I still have to come one more time to say goodbye!'
Having lived in the same house for just over half a century since the day I married, surprises most people. Yet many ask why would I want to give up living in this tranquil green valley?
My son is home for a flash visit, and we're making the most of his time here.
I still have to find a buyer for my home so who knows, it could take a long while still! For now we're simply enjoying precious time together.
I've also been enjoying a Dutch goodie bag - Stroopwafels, Drop, Dutch Cheeses, Speculaas, and Tony's Chocolonely.
Time for change - exciting times ahead, laced with bittersweet memories.
We went up the coast to what's becoming a firm family favourite when celebrating special milestones. This time we celebrated my sister-in-law's 60th birthday.
This fabulous 8-bedroom Airbnb is right on the beach - 3 years in a row now, each time for a milestone birthday. As usual it was enormous fun getting away with the special people in my life, and getting to know my brother's in-laws a little better. What an awesome weekend, kind of a gathering of the clans, a fabulous bonding of family ties!
Oh, and the party, well, that was a blast.
I will tell you more about this next time, a lot happened in those three days!
This will be our last day together for a long while. Tons to do, as always, the day before departure.
No time to sit around inside, the sun is up, reminding us that time waits for no man or woman!
