First of all, I'm not sure if I wrote in this community, maybe it's the first or second post. If it's the second, it was probably a long time ago.
Do they still spray mosquitoes from airplanes in your area?
There was some kind of ban in our area, so they didn't spray from airplanes, they went by car. Or maybe they didn't have the money to hire a plane. Because the truth here is hard to reach the public. Usually some half-information.
They usually announce on social media and in all the local stores that the spraying will be done. They do it about a week before. To warn beekeepers to remove their hives if they are in the area.
I didn't notice the warning, or maybe I was too busy to pay attention. Mostly the plane found me in the yard.
I was actually chasing some small birds to take pictures of. Since I had no success with the small birds, I decided to take pictures of the big bird.
My phone was already at hand. I thought I'd take a few pictures and go inside. Because after spraying from a plane or from a car, the warning smell of the spray they use just drives me home. It stinks.
But that didn't happen this time.
I was hoping for maybe some burning eyes, a headache. But there was nothing. Just a plane flying over the area and releasing some odorless spray.
Later I found out that this was a regular treatment of mosquito larvae. Also that they received some donation from the European Union related to environmentally friendly preparations. But I still don't think it should be sprayed from an airplane.
I understand the need to spray mosquitoes, due to the transmission of viruses and fevers from mosquitoes to humans especially this area Danube, Fruška Gora, Kovilj-Petrovaradin Marsh.Although officially there has been no malaria in Serbia for more than half a century, there have been some imported cases, and also because of the warming.
Thanks for reading.
Until next time.
Stay healthy.
