Lee, my son, and I started out early to catch the train to Amsterdam to meet up with the group going on the tour to Giethoorn.
Giethoorn
This was really a lovely and worthwhile trip. It was a birthday gift from Lee's dad, as the family have decided we want to have memories as gifts
So happy to be able to blog about this wonderful day of memories on the 1st March.
We collected our tickets and had some time to spare so we had a delicious cappuccino at a nearby coffee shop in the station.

Once we arrived in Giethoorn we boarded a boat - for a one hour trip to see the houses along the bank.
This is the boat we went on

Tulips in the foreground and all the ducks in the background
There were quite a few places where we saw tulips growing on the banks of the river. I can only imagine how beautiful this will be in the spring and the summer.
Taken after lunch when we went to explore
Apparently the little house you see there is like a little kitchen where they bake bread.
Signboard on the river and even street signs - naming the different sections of the river
After the boat ride we had lunch in the recommended restaurant and it was really good. Will post about that in my next blog.
Hope you enjoy my travels with me. The weekend has been more than amazing
