Luckily I have patience and I find things to keep myself busy.
Oops! I really hoped that they would not go inside, as there could be pandemonium. Egyptian geese are fiercely protective of their babies, but they might also have had a doctor's appointment :)
Marian was booked for a procedure and what we thought could take a short while turned out to be 2 hours. So I had to wait for 2 hours.
As usual I had a newspaper and my camera and I went to sit at a little dam in the hospital grounds, that I will show you in Part 2.
For now, the geese appeared with their babies and I was happy to follow them.
This was when I first saw them in the road and they had 11 babies.
I don't know where they parked their car as they obviously also had a doctor's appointment, but I will let the pictures tell you the story.
As you can see it was a cool and bleak morning, as winter will soon arrive. This shows the intelligence of the geese, as the babies that could survive the winter will make it to adulthood.
Sad to think that only one or two of the babies will make it as not only winter, but predators will thin their numbers out.
There are many houses behind the hospital which means that there are many cats and then the raptors like hawks and falcons are also a big danger.
So they entered into the waiting room to wait for their names to be called to see the doctor:)
And like normal people they were glad to get out of there in a hurry after their treatments:)
So yes, me following the geese took up most of the first hour's wait and it was a gift that really kept me busy. I was a bit worried that someone would complain about my camera but thankfully no complaints as everyone could see that I was focused on the geese. Nowadays everyone is security conscious and I don't blame them as things are bad over here, but I am only interested in nature.
In Part 2, I will show you a little dam on the property and some amazing finds such as this duo of dragonflies in the plants on the banks of the dam.
And so until later today when I will post Part 2, I will say Au Revoir for now and I hope that you have enjoyed this post
And That's All Friends!
