Tapping Out And Tapping In
The image above is of my bathroom / laundry tap. It snapped off in my hand yesterday when I went to move it to the side.
I didn’t apply much pressure at all for it to snap at the base and it had been stuck in that position for a while. It has simply seized up over the last few months. Other taps are fine though, hust this one was bad.
It was a cheap and nasty part from a plumbing company probably wanting to rip off the Government Housing department.
It won’t cost me anything to get a plumber out to replace it as I live in Government Housing. The issue is that it will probably take all day or even a week because it’s not considered an urgent job.
Frustrating, but I don’t have any work for tomorrow so I can ring the Housing Trust maintenance early tomorrow morning, report it and hope for the best.
Trying to find time off to do anything can be difficult at times, and I could have applied for various shifts for next week but I decided to tap out of doing that, in order to get the tap fixed, but it also allows me time to tidy up a bit and get a bit more organised.
The decluttering is an on-going process, and the need to get things fixed by third parties is a distraction / setback I didn’t need right now.
I have also decided to “tap out” of some of my social groups (my apologies to those affected) for a few more months until I can get my taxes and work sorted.
Have noticed that as technology increases, there are more and more demands placed on us? You’re more likely to miss genuinely important emails because of the spam that for some reason you can no longer filter out and so on.
Tapping In
On a positive note, today I got new glasses! They are multi focals, and it will take a few days to get used to the new prescription. Another annoyance, but I can see they will have a much better focus once my eyes settle down.
I’ve also enrolled in a Cyber Security course at TAFE, one of our higher educational facilities. I’m only doing two sibjects this term but I think that’s enough, especially if I am going to be working part time at the same time.
I’ll apply for a student card when I get the chance.
What I do also have is my Artist’s Pass for working at the Garden Of Unearthly Delights. This means I can get past security to actually do my job of handing out flyers to La Ronde, a carabret / burlesque / comedy / music show.
Right now I am off to do some shopping and then back to decluttering my unit. I have boxes, garbage bags and dust pans ready and waiting.
Oh dear, the heavy rains are here early.
I’ll make do.
Thank you for reading, stay dry and enjoy your weekend.
