The Doctor Visit
(Image sourced from Google street view and cropped).
I've been sitting in a slightly uncomfortable chair in the waiting room of my local medical centre for over an hour now.
There's a widescreen TV playing a made-for-tv movie, interspersed with political ads for a political party I hope no one is stupid enough to vote for.
Mothers are sitting trying to entertain mostly well-behaved toddlers, with a modicum of success.
I'm here, just over a week after umbilical hernia surgery because there is bulging of my stomach worse than the initial hernia!
It's my turn to go see the doctor and we exchange pleasantries before I reveal why I'm there.
I also show a photo from post surgery showing what my stomach was like a week earlier.
My doctor prepared the observation bed and asked me to lay on in it while she put gloves on. She disinfected the area before poking and prodding the area and asked questions about whether I'd lifted anything heavy, etc.
I hadn't.
She recommended I get a scan done.
I went to the radiology place, made an appointment and was lucky enough to be seen the same day.
Looks like I will have to wait until after Easter to find out more.
In the meantime my healthcare card is set to expire before the end of the month, and I have been off my factory job for the last two weeks, and it doesn't look like I'll be back at work after Easter either.
Hernias are no joke. Listen to your body and be prepared to say no to people pushing you to lift things heavier than you can handle.
Don't be macho. It's not worth it.
More on this stuff at a later date. Right now I need to rest.
Stay safe.
