I still have to hang this sea turtle, but everything else is done, except I still have to go pick up a new door. I may do that tomorrow. The older I get, the less I want to dust and clean. I've been decluttering every area of my home, and when it was time to decorate this half-bath, I kept it to a minimum, plus I did a theme, which is so unlike me.
I was at our local decor store, "Hobby Lobby," looking for a nice picture for the walls. I had a heck of a time finding something different than what I would normally choose.
I love the ocean, being a Cancer sign, and a water-loving girl. When I saw these two frames next to each other, that was it for me. Mind you, I am not a huge fan of blue, but I do love sea green.
When walking through another store, "Home Goods", I came across this shell-shaped bowl that I thought would be nice, filled with popuri. It adds a nice touch to the shelf under the pictures, and it has a nice fragrance, not too overpowering.
Then, to my surprise, I found this sea turtle hand towel. Of course, that seemed like a logical addition, and it came home with me.
I now had a dilemma: what to do on the wall behind the toilet. It is large and bare, but I didn't want another picture. The bathroom isn't that large, and too many would be disconcerting to me.
Two days later, I went back to "Hobby Lobby" to see if I could find some natural reeds to put into a vase. I happened on a wooden bowl that would fit onto the shelf. Now, what to put into it?
While searching the floral section, I came across this blue grass, and thought, well, it kinda looks like seaweed or some sort of water plant. I knew I could work with that. I had some moss and driftwood at home, with some stones too.
Time to get the glue gun out and get creative. It has been a long time since I put an arrangement together. So glad I had the foam, pins, and moss to complete the job.
It needed a little color on the base, so I added some short floral picks that sort of look like coral. Add in a starfish and a couple of shells, and it was done!
It looks really nice behind the toilet, and it gives just enough height to the wall, adding in the same colors as the sea creature pictures. The first thing my husband said was, " It looks really nice," but how do you clean it? Really, right now! I told him you don't, or maybe just blow-drying any dust off would do. lol
The new lights, vanity, and mirror really make this half-bath look so different than what it was before. Much more modern than I'm used to, but I do like how it came together.
