I purchased 4 bags of fresh cranberries this year. My hubby loves cranberry sauce, so I thought I would process some for the pantry shelf and have it ready for Thanksgiving too.
Cooking the berries down until all the skins pop and mashing them well. Once they boiled for a good amount of time the sauce was ready to be jarred.
This is the first time I've ever canned the cranberries, and hubby was so excited to be able to have it whenever he wants.
The 12 cups of berries made 9 1/2-pint jars and two-pint jars for the pantry. Plus, I have a large container for Thanksgiving dinner. ;-)
I have two pumpkins that need attending to this weekend. I'm trying to decide what to do with them.
Meanwhile, I've been busy getting the main floor decorated for the holidays. I purchased two #Poinsettia plants this year and they were only .99¢ each.
The #Thanksgiving #Cactus is starting to bloom right on cue for the holiday. I flanked the cactus with the Poinsettia on each side and added some greens to the mix.
One day this week, I got the white tree out of the bin and started putting it together. Oddly enough, two strands of lights were all blackened. Now, how does that happen when they were working when I put it away last year. Sigh!
It took me over an hour just to remove all the lights and thankfully I had three strands of lights one white wire.
I continued with the red and white theme throughout the house this year. There is something that feels special about red for Christmas, well at least for me.
The tree is simple and so pretty with a few white and silver Poinsettia picks throughout.
I had this cute snowman and put him on the top of the tree for some extra fun.
He just makes us both smile at its cuteness.
I put this large basket of holiday florals on the dresser by the front entrance, and it has white lights that get turned on each night to light up that side of the front room.
All of the fall decorations had to come down and put away for another year to make room for the Christmas decor. The fall decor has been up since the first week of September, so it was time to change it out.
Here are the wall plates that got swapped out and I have to admit, I don't miss the orange, as it is not one of my favorite colors. lol
I've had this plate collection for many years and still enjoy seeing them up for the holidays. They go perfectly with the red and white theme I'm doing this year.
I shared a post earlier this week about the family room tree with white lights on. This night we chose to enjoy the colored ones on the tree and the swag, which are my hubby's favorite.
I still have more to decorate in the dining area and the kitchen so stay tuned for another decorating update.
