Another year gone by, this week I put all the Christmas decor away. I like to organize by color each year so when I pick a theme for the next season, I don't have to go through every large bin. All ribbon saved and garlands each get their own. Greens and floral all go into one bin, as well as, and other ceramic decor. I decided to do a white, blue, and green theme next year instead of the red and white.
Now that it is all put away, I could put all the house plants back into their perspective places. As you can see, I still have the two Poinsettia plants, and they are still looking very nice. I put the Spider plant on this South-facing table to get more sunlight.
As you can see it is loaded with babies. They were hanging down all over the place and Mika loves to chew on the plant, so I put all the stems into a floral support that I had. It looks kind of cool with the babies hanging above the mother plant.
The Boston Fern did not like being moved to put up the white Christmas tree. It let me know by shedding a lot of its leaves every few days. I gave it a good thorough cleaning and added some fertilizer to give it a boost. I am starting to see new fronds forming so that's a good sign.
This is her sweet spot where it gets bright light, and it has plenty of room to arch naturally.
I planted a few lemon seeds in this small pot ant this is how much it has grown in one year. I'm hoping to have a nice-sized tree someday. The Blue Fern on the right stays in the South-facing window in the family room. So far it is doing fine there getting just enough light to keep it happy. It grew so much last summer being out on the back porch.
Then there is my Peperomia plant. The right photo was taken this summer after it decided to flower. The stems were getting so long and practically taking over the entire table. I decided to gif it a major cutting and the left photo was the result. It is now putting out new side branches so I know it will do just fine. I wasn't sure if that sever pruning would hurt it, apparently, she was very forgiving.
The Thanksgiving Cactus is still blooming beautifully and when it is done, I'm going to pinch back the longest stems to thicken it up a bit. I should start some new plants with the cuttings and share them with friends.
She sure has lovely flowers and when the petals glisten from the sunlight, it looks amazing. I don't have many houseplants anymore; I've simplified my life a lot over the past few years and now I focus more on the outside gardens and that keeps me busy enough.
This week I have to start seeding onions and petunias; can you believe it? I have to clear off my potting table in the garage and get set up for another season. Let's go 2026, I'm excited! Happy New Year to all.
