It is almost Thanksgiving Day, and family is arriving from Virginia for the week. I got the rest of the Christmas decorations up in the kitchen and dining areas. The Thanksgiving Cactus is in full bloom with many tiny buds still forming. I'm sure I will even have flowers for Christmas this year.
Earlier in the year I lost half of the plant due to weight and it being over 15 years old. This is what is left of it, and I've started two more from cuttings to ensure that I always have it.
At night the large basket of flowers is lit up to give that area of the living room some ambiance.
Over the kitchen sink is a simple swag and some little snowmen on the windowsill. Then I put up these strings of beading above the half wall that separates the kitchen from the dining room. I never use it for eating anymore since we don't have large gatherings. Now, I use this table for doing puzzles to keep me busy throughout the fall and winter months.
The house is so pretty with all the lights scattered throughout.
The server is where I usually put all the little ceramic trees and gingerbread houses. A string of fairy lights is underneath the spun matting which makes it looks so nice at night. Now that the house is finally decorated, I can focus on preparing for visitors. I have to set up the air mattress and tidy up the house before they arrive.
Wishing everyone in the states a wonderful Thanksgiving, and safe travels for all!
