It has been years since I had the opportunity to visit the famous Longwood Garden Conservatory. I have to say it was the most stunning conservatory that I have ever been to.
I hope you enjoy experiencing the beauty and peaceful vibes that I did on my visit. The photos do not do it the justice the conservatory deserves, yet seeing these images again puts me right back there all those years ago.
Perhaps you can get a feel for the enormous size of the building. Look at the height of the columns covered in ivy. The arching windows surrounding the building offer you views of the expansive grounds surrounding the property.
I think that these tall spires of white flowers are a member of the Foxtail Lily family. If I am incorrect be sure to leave a comment to let me know otherwise. They put on a splendid display planted among the blue and apricot flowers.
I fell in love with this overflowing fountain sitting amidst the lilies. The whole scene just gave me such a sense of serenity.
Can you imagine the staff that must be employed to care for these massive plants and gardens? Apparently, many of the mass plantings are changed throughout the seasons to ensure blooms all over the conservatory.
In this area, there is water covering the flooring where all these palms are grown in containers. All the windows and trees are reflected across the surface of the water creating a shimmering effect. I sat on a nearby bench just to enjoy the moment thoroughly.
This was the first time I had ever seen a blue Poppy in person. There were many of them planted with the fluffy Foxtail ferns. After seeing them I actually ordered seeds but never got them to germinate, which was very disappointing.
Could these Orchids be any more beautiful? It is a wonder that I don't have a huge collection of them in my home, as I find them fascinating. Perhaps I will have to start one this year.
After enjoying the conservatory, I took a stroll through the grounds along various pathways. You can walk to this pond where there is a gazebo overlooking the area. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be with all the trees and shrubs in full bloom.
I enjoyed my visit to the Longwood Gardens and maybe someday I will get to travel to Philadelphia again. I would so enjoy seeing the entire grounds in all its glory.
