"Throw caution to the wind and just do it."
Carrie Underwood
We say that it's blowing a hoolie in Scotland when it is windy, and in parts of Scotland it blows a hoolie all the fluffing time!
I remember when I worked up at Sullom Voe Oil Terminal in the Shetland Islands way up North of the mainland of Scotland, it was a windy. It was so windy that the only trees that managed to grow were all bent over, and all cars had dings from the doors being blown open in the wind!
Do you have wheelie bins?
I was walking down my road to the shops earlier. It is all downhill and goes past the football ground.
And yes it had been blowing a hoolie earlier.
The blue bins that you see are wheelie bins, and we put rubbish or trash in them.
For some reason, the blue bins which are thin are general waste, and being thinner they have a tendancy to blow over!
We do recycle here, and have black bins for cardboard and these are thicker bins. Green bins which are thicker too are used for metals and plastics.
Result is often these bins get blown over, especially as some people leave them on the pavements, and don't even put them on their property.
When you are walking it can be infuriating with your path being blocked by these bins, it is a bit like dog shite on the pavement, my peeve is not with the bins or the shite, oh no, but with the people that own said bins or dogs that do poop.
So yes, I have been known to hurl a bin back into a garden and decapitate a flower or three.
Leaving a bin on the public pavement for days on end is not only a safety hazard and a nuisance but breaking the law, so curmudgeon me takes great delight in whirling the bin back where it belongs!
So I mentioned in the title that it has been a whirlwind start to the year, and here we are halfway through January already!
Do you see the blue sky in that picture, compared to the grey sky in the previous one, they were taken about two minutes apart, with the latter picture taken as I moved down the hill towards the shops.
Wait five minutes and a different weather pattern emerges.
Things have gotten hectic and it seems it will be a busy time, and in hive I have some projects lined up for the show. It's a whirlwind already!
Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend
Let's make 2023 to grow the whole Hive blockchain!
