Hello hello silver bloggers, music lovers and Hello hivers!
How are you doing? I hope you had a very Happy Easter and had lots of chocolate Easter eggs! I know I had two hehe!
It is April 7th which is of course the first Tuesday in April and today's ttt .. well the clue is in the title!!
! I also see that my ttt was the only post I published on Hive last week, let's see what I can do this week. It just shows the power of music!
We are going back to my Silver Chronicles post of a few weeks ago My Soundtrack for the 80s my favourite decade
Quite a self-explanatory title and it is my inspiration for the next few posts on ttt!
The year is now 1981 and these three tunes are from a northern synth duo, one of whom who sadly passed away a few months ago!
It is Tuesday and that of course means that it's #ttt or #threetunetuesday and so it's time to share some tunes with you!
started #ttt 254 weeks ago! Go check out what it is all about on his latest post Ireland's Top 30 Songs (25,26,27) for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 253 - win some HBI
Do go support as without him we would not have this mental fun musical activity that you can win HSBI from! I am happy to be one of the SIX sponsors and it is kinda fun checking out music from all over this global village of ours!
He has just released some winners posts, so go support those posts, he gets no support from any whales or even curation trails for these posts that he does. 251 weeks is an incredible amount of time, and I for one love that he runs this, and I appreciate the time and dedication that he puts in, when he could be doing something else.
Long live #ttt 😁🎼 and #threetunetuesday
The Band - The Human League.
The Human League are true legends of the 1980s. Formed in Sheffield in 1977, they started as an experimental electronic group. After the original members Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh left to form Heaven 17, lead singer Philip Oakey took a huge gamble by recruiting two teenage girls, Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley, whom he spotted dancing in a local club. This new lineup created the masterpiece album Dare in 1981, which defined the "New Pop" sound by blending catchy melodies with state-of-the-art synthesizers.
All three of these tunes were released in 1981
What does this have to do with The Human League?
Fluff all !! But it is a bit of a Human Touch as it was one of the two chocolate Easter eggs I mentioned earlier...
Rolo ... What do you do with your last Rolo?
Tune 1 - The Human League - Don't You Want Me
The definitive 80s anthem. It reached Number 1 in both the UK and the US. It’s famous for its "he-said, she-said" story about a man who claims to have "made" a cocktail waitress into a star, only for her to assert her independence.
This video for "Don't You Want Me" is a classic example of the cinematic music videos that helped launch the MTV era and made the band global stars.
Tune 2 - The Human League - Love Action (I Believe in Love)
This track proved the band could be soulful while using purely electronic instruments. It was their first Top 10 hit and features lyrics where Oakey admits his romantic vulnerabilities.
Tune 3 - The Human League - The Sound of the Crowd
Released in April 1981, this was the first song to feature the voices of Susan and Joanne. It has a driving, rhythmic energy that invited everyone to "add your voice" to the new electronic movement.
So there you have it 3 songs released in 1981 from The Human League this week with my 80s Soundtrack post as the inspiration!
Which was your favourite tune? Or have you never heard of them?
Note: The 3 YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.
I wish that you all have a brilliant happy fun and terrific Tuesday until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶
