Today I tried out my new bought chimney cleaner, which I requested at the shop for the measure of my chimney. It seems though, that you have to ask for a smaller one than the actual size, because this one got stuck. I have no pictures because at the moment I was angry and bitching against life.
"I'm always short on money, this expensive shit cost me the same as what I ate last week and it was just garbage".
"I''m cursed, things are never going to improve".
"Why do you hate me Life?"
Anyway, the typical crap that floods the mind when something frustrates you 🤣
Trying to get the cleaner out I had to mess up the chimney and now I don't have a working stove. I stayed for a while longer lamenting myself until the savior thought came to me:
"You can't let this beat you. If you can't find a solution to this, what kind of an offgrider are you?"
I decided it was time to finally make a rocket stove as I had that idea in mind for the longest time. I found a really good video on YouTube for a simple build:
And I set off to solve my problems, with the intention of doing so as quickly as possible because I was already hungry and wanted to cook some potatoes SOON.
Apparently one watch was not enough to learn the build and I dedicated all afternoon to fail miserably at building the rocket stove.
This image describes pretty well the situation:
Time flew by and I wasn't able to get it right so I watched the video again and realized all the mistakes I was making. I think this is actually a great learning method. Just give it a raw try without too much head and then go to the source to compare what you did vs how it was done. It's just mind blowing how it's all in the details.
I realized there was no way I'd finish the stove during the day so I went to the garden to eat chard, raw peas, and things like mustard, arugula and dill. This helps a bit but it doesn't really keep the hunger away for long. I also drank many of my fermented fruit ciders and that kept me going.
My second attempt was much better:
But there are many wrong things on that too so tomorrow I'll start over and improve on all my mistakes. Hopefully it won't take so long and I'll be able to cook something soon. Or maybe I'll just have to go to town and buy some bread haha.
Later I watched another mud build, this time an oven. I'll share it with you because it's pure art. Warning ⚠️: don't watch if you're hungry! I died when he brought out that bread from the oven, just thinking of it makes me drool.
I think I'm just going to have to try and sleep now. Guess the fasting I had been meaning to do for so long came to me forcefully since I never got around to doing it. God it's hard to fast, if there's a sensation I don't like it's hunger.
Hope to be posting a more successful story tomorrow, thanks for reading.
