Greetings to all the members of this beautiful community! You already know that I like to place fruits from time to time to attract our feathered friends and try to take some pictures of them. This time I present a specimen that left me a bit confused.
¡Saludos a todos los integrantes de ésta bonita comunidad! Ya saben de que me gusta colocar frutas de vez en cuando para atraer a nuestros amigos emplumados y tratar de tomarles algunas fotos. Ésta vez les presento un ejemplar que me dejó un tanto confundido.

It seems that the birds that hang around my domicile like to come early in the morning or at dusk. I have noticed that. They seem to be busy or resting in the middle of the day. I captured these images just after 5:00 p.m. The fruit had been there for some time and this friend arrived that I hadn't seen before.
It has a predominant green color, which reminds me of that color worn by the military in their camouflage uniforms, almost with that neutral green color that serves to combine several garments. Its beak has a slight downward curve, and the tip of its wings is darker, like a black color. Its tail also has a similar shade. Its size is standard, similar to what I've commonly seen around here.
The truth is that I am not very expert with the names of birds, so I usually ask the neighbors, people who might be able to help me. With this one I got a surprise.
Parece que las aves que rondan mi domicilio les gusta venir a primeras horas de la mañana o al atardecer. Me he dado cuenta de eso. Parece que están ocupados o descansando a mediodia. Éstas imágenes las capté pasadas las 5:00 p.m. La fruta ya llevaba algún tiempo puesta allí y llegó éste amigo que no había visto antes.
Tiene un verde predominante, que me recuerda ese color que llevan los militares en sus uniformes de camuflaje, casi con ese verde color neutro que sirve para combinar varias prendas. Su pico tiene una ligera curva hacia abajo, y la punta de sus alas es más oscura, como un color negro. Su cola también tiene un tono parecido. Su tamaño es estardar, parecido al que comunmente he visto por aquí.
La verdad, es que no soy muy experto con los nombres de las aves, así que suelo preguntar a los vecinos, personas que quizás me puedan ayudar. Con éste me llevé una sorpresa.
A neighbor told me when he saw my photos: "That is a tile of palm trees." I answered him to look again, to look carefully. And when he looked again, he confirmed the name again. And I told him: "How can that be its name? It can't be! First, it is not blue, but green. And second, there are no palm trees around here. Maybe, the closest ones are the chaguaramos. Are you sure?"
He explained to me that sometimes names don't correspond to colors, or at least that's what he had learned. It doesn't make much sense to me. It's like saying there's a cardinal that's blue? Well, who am I to serve as a dictionary in this field. I think the only one who had that privilege was Adam.
Un vecino me dijo al ver mis fotos: "Ese es un azulejo de palmeras." Yo le respondí que volviera a ver, que se fijara bien. Y al fijarse de nuevo me volvió a ratificar el nombre. Y yo le dije: "¿Cómo va a ser ese su nombre? ¡No puede ser! Primero, no es de color azul, sino verde. Y segundo, por aquí no hay palmeras. Quizás, los más parecidos son los chaguaramos. ¿Estás seguro?"
Él me explicó que a veces los nombres no corresponden a los colores, o al menos eso había aprendido él. Para mí no tiene mucha lógica. ¿Es cómo decir que existe un cardenal que sea azul? Bueno, pero quien soy yo para servir de diccionario en éste campo. Creo que el único que tuvo ése privilegio fue Adán.
I find it curious that at this point I am discovering even more bird species. The truth is that I should not be surprised, since there are thousands of them, and it is wonderful that several of them live around me.
This bird was alone for a while, hovering around the wall, the fruit and the surrounding plants. But soon after I saw a bird perched on one of the leaves of the banana plant on the other side of the wall. I don't know if it was his mate or one of his friends. But he seemed very interested to know what was going on with this bold fellow that did come to our wall.
Me parece curioso que a estas alturas esté descubriendo aún más especies de aves. La verdad es que no debería sorprenderme, en vista que hay miles de ellas, y es maravilloso que varias de ellas vivan a mi alrededor.
Éste ejemplar estuvo rato solo, rondando el muro, la fruta y las plantas alrededor. Pero al poco tiempo pude ver posado en unas de las hojas de la planta de banana del otro lado del muro a un pájaro igual. No sé si es su pareja o uno de sus amigos. Pero parecía muy interesado en saber lo que pasaba con éste audaz compañero que sí llegó a nuestro muro.
