For 's weekly Show Me A Photo Contest in the Feathered Friends Community.
This week's theme is Black & White.
Crows are very colorful in the right light, but they also make for excellent monochromatic subjects in the right light, too. I often have difficulty deciding what direction to take when processing my crow photos.
Their expressive faces make for great portraits.
Sometimes they almost look human.
Crow featured is Melby. He was the first wild crow to discover the snacks I leave on the windowsill at my apartment. For many months my window was the property of Melby and his family. Then one day Junior and company realized that their crow lady was giving easy snacks to some other crow on what was technically their turf. They kicked him out.
Melby still sneaks in a visit every once in a while, but most of the time I have to come to him.
