For 's weekly Show Me A Photo Contest in the Feathered Friends Community.
It's a free theme this week, and as such I have decided to free myself from the confines of perceived perfectionism. Perceived in this case pertaining to my propensity for overthinking and overdoing and over-stressing my creative process in a manner that serves only my neurosis, because really there is not such thing as perfect and nobody but me knows what my idea of perfection is, anyway. Who knows if "my" perfect is even any good.
I remind myself that sometimes the creative process is merely the act of going out and looking for a photo. Trying. Shooting something and thinking this could be good, even when could be ends up a one-eyed mess of underexposed feathers that was supposed to be a crow fight.
Or the ISO setting I trusted to get a good crow exposure fails me but oh well, the crow is too fast for my trigger finger anyway.
It's not all bad, really. I may have the expectation of freezing in time for all digital eternity the splendor of a crow taking flight, but when that expectation fails me (as it almost always does, I discover 500 photos later), I can sometimes still find art.
And I can always find the sweet spot in the technical disaster that I called a photoshoot that day.
