Greetings bird lovers!
Most Americans can recognize the jingle that has been sung for as long as I can remember.
Yankee Doodle Dandy. There are several different versions of the song and there is meaning in calling the feather macaroni. Macaroni was a new food in England and Americans wanted to experience this cuisine, they also were copying English fashion which were incorporating feathers in hats.
This was our version of the jingle.
Yankee doodle went to London riding on a pony, stuck a feather in his hat and called it macaroni.
Yankee Doodle Dandy is a 1942 American biographical musical film about George M. Cohan, known as "The Man Who Owned Broadway". It stars James Cagney, Joan Leslie, Walter Huston, and Richard Whorf, and features Irene Manning, George Tobias, Rosemary DeCamp, Jeanne Cagney, and Vera Lewis. Joan Leslie's singing voice was partially dubbed by Sally Sweetland.

Very fashionable don't ya think??
Here in Upstate New York, there is a very large population of wild turkeys, we spot them all the time. I believe this feather is a wild turkey tail feather, although I may be wrong. 🤷
I found this feather while walking the property in early spring several years ago. Such a wonderful find. I have quite a collection of hats, with hair like mine, everyday is a bad hair day and hats solve that problem. Hehehe.😁
