Salutations all you busy bees.
It's time to share a most wonderful little bird, the hummingbird of Upstate NY.
With the #farm in full swing of Spring, the birds have returned from their winter Holiday down south.
Each morning we see birds that have not been around in a while, one being our little hummingbirds.
Now most birds in the neighborhood know where to stop in when hunger strikes, yep, it's the Jurg farm.
We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our feeders are always full, even when the squirrels and chipmunks make pigs of themselves.
Hey everybody's got to eat, right?
The hummingbirds are special though, they are so tiny and so quick, they must burn a lot of calories.
So they get a blend of liquid nectar. We buy a powder that is blended with all the nutrients that hummingbirds need to thrive. And thrive they do at our place. In return, we enjoy their company and are always amazed to see their beautiful colors and their tiny little bodies, with wings that flutter at light speed.
We know they are inbound when we hear that quick buzz buzz shooting out of the big trees to perch at their table just off our front porch.
You have to be ready to take the picture because they come in and out so fast. It's a quick sip, then off they go, only to buzz buzz back in a minute later.
Hummingbirds are plentiful here and we just love when they arrive back home on the #homestead.
They have such long beaks compared to the rest of their bodies.
This bird was one of many that stop in for a bite to eat, they come in a whole variety of colors. I am hoping to get a good pix of the red-necked one that stops often enough, that one is also so beautiful.
A big shout out to my friend for hosting this venue, you are the best!
Hello to , this is my entry for the #amazingnature contest for this week. I think this tiny bird deserves a spot in this competition, not just for it's beauty, but also it's speed, agility and endurance. Plus, they are just cool to watch.
Hope everyone is healthy, safe and well loved. Life is tricky right now, but have faith, strive to be happy!
#alwaysaflower, thanks for starting this lovely gathering of flower lovers.
Here's one for you and our new community.
