Last weekend I did a short bird photography trip in Upper Austria near Linz. On a crop field there was still some water left from the rainfalls. Several birds gathered around this puddle to drink and bath their feathers in water and sand. It is always a pleasure how much they enjoy bathing, they probably want to get rid from some parasites that are living on their feathers and sand in combination with water works best for this. After a Rainfall there are the several great spots with very shallow water that are suitable to exactly help satisfy this demand.
