I visited the district of "Burgenland" in eastern Austria for some bird photography this May and I was lucky to take several pictures of nice birds eventhough it was a little late in this season of bird watching. Usually I am there a little earlier in the year and this is also probably the better time because in May a lot of birds are already breeding and therefore a lot more difficult to spot. But because of the COVID Lockdown it wasn't possible this year to get there earlier when you prefer to stay over night. And I prefer to stay there over night because if I drive more than 3 hours I want at least a whole weekend of time to take some nice pictures.

One of the birds that I only found at Lake Neusiedler till now is the Pied Avocet, It has a bent beak and it is very interesting watching it swinging it's beak through the shallow water to find small water insects. I found so many different beautiful species there but since I was there a little late in the year so a lot of them already were breeding and hid in the high grass or in the reed.
