On my last trip to Vienna I was able to take some pictures of the European Green Woodpecker there on a meaddow in a park. It was probably looking for some ants it's favorite meal there. Unlike most of the other woodpeckers the, green woodpecker is looking for its prey on the ground and not in old trees and barks. When i met it it was jumping around the ground and actively looking for ants on the ground. It didn't mind that we got pretty close to it to take some pictures. So Patrick, Stefan and I took several pictures of this cute little friend. We were looking for a special owl that day and the woodpecker and some other birds where not our main target this day but I am still happy that I found it.
