Today was a holiday in Austria (Easter Monday) and I had a free day so Stefan and I decided to do a little wildlife photography at the Inn River and now in Spring we where able to see a lot of different birds and also could take several pictures of different species. One species that usually doesn't live in Austria and also normally doesn't migrate here is the Flamingo. Usually the northernmost Flamingos are the ones that visit Italy during summer time and on some spots they are quite common there. But Austria is not a typical place for flamingos. But because this flamingo is already here at the Inn River for a long time it is probably feeling very good here and also finding enough food that fits him and also keeps his feathers in pink /red color.
Today the Flamingo came pretty close to the edge of the river. Picture: Florian Glechner.

Of course we also could take several nice pictures of other birds again and I will show them to you shortly but the Flamingo is always a highlight for me since it is a bird that usually doesn't live here in Austria. I plan to visit the "Delta del Po" and the "Laguna of Venice" maybe in some years and there they also should live but in very big numbers. This is usually one of the northernmost natural habitats of the Flamingos. But the Flamingo we have here at the Inn River is also a Chilean Flamingo so it had to escape somewhere from a Zoo here in Europe and the Inn River gave him the perfect habitat to stay and live.
I am amazed that the flamingo finds enough appropriate food here at the Inn River to keeps its pink color. Pictuer: Florian Glechner.
