This weekend I saw this Grey heron fall from the sky and he probably hurt his wing. When Stefan and I were taking pictures of birds on this grassland suddenly a grey heron did a "special" maneuver during flying and it fell to the ground in front of us. I don't know if it's wing was already hurt in the sky or if it was hurt from the fall. But it didn't flew up again but was only walking ont he grass and we could see that it was holding his wing in this unnatural position. We let the local bird sanctuary know that there might be a bird that hurt its wing but I don't know if they did something.
It was walking away from us and we didn't want to stress the bird even more so we didn't follow. But I hope it will be helped or the injury is not that bad.
The right wing is in an unusual position after the fall. Picture: Florian Glechner.
