Night herons sleep in a colony of several individuals and if you have the luck to know a sleeping place of them you can get some really nice pictures of these usually very shy birds. I know a sleeping place at the Inn River, and I am taking pictures up there, I usually also visit it. Unfortunately, there are a lot of mosquitoes at this place too because it is very wet and the swamp lands of the Inn river are directly in the neighborhood.

Eventhough it is a very good spot for taking some pictures of birds (Night herons, kingfishers and other species) I usually don't stay there very long because of all these tiny insects that try to bite me. Of course sometimes you have to suffer a bit for a nice picture, but I am not a masochist that enjoys getting bitten by these little beasts.
