My parents have a birdhouse and as soon it gets cold, and the first snow is approaching they offer some food for the birds in the birdhouse. This is a magnet for a variety of birds. But usually you see the same species there, since not all birds look for seeds and grains. So it is nice to have it and to be able to watch them from the warmth of their house, but the more interesting birds probably won't show up. There are a few species like the nuthatch or the great tit that come by regular. Some other species only come by very seldom.
