Pied Advocets are some really nice big waders that wander through shallow water and use their special beak to look for insects and other food in between the mudd and sand of a lake. The only spot where I was able to take some pictures of them was near Lake Neusiedler in Eastern Austria. There is a great spot where I like to lie down on the ground and wait for the birds getting closer. Unfortunately the sunlight is often very harsh in summer when these pictures were taken. So only the very early morning and the early eventing is a good light condition (or if it is cloudy enough).

There are also a lot of other birds speices there but since I can only find the Pied Advocets here at this spot in Austria most of my photography is concentrated on them and other birds are only sporadically taken pictures of.

They are often in a feeding frenzy and come really close to me when I only move very little and lie on the ground. This helps me a lot in taking better pictures of them. I hope next time I am able to get some pictures during a time of the day when there is not so much harsh sunlight like on this day. As already mentioned, early morning and early evening would be the best time. Also some clouds could help to break the light a bit and get better contrasts.
