The Bee-Eaters are along with the Kingfishers one of the most colorful birds here in Austria an I always enjoy watching them and taking pictures of their beauty. Since I know already several spots where I can find them during the summer time it is more or less easy to get some nice pictures of these beautiful birds for me. But getting to know the right spots was essential for me and one spot that we found is very good for bird pictures in flight, another spot is better for taking pictures at their breeding holes. It is nice watching them hunting and sitting on the branches with insects in their beaks.
When they are hunting and have to fly a bit against the wind then it is easier to get some in-flight pictures of them, since they are a lot slower when they have to fly against the wind direction. When flying with the wind they can often bee too fast.
