At the wetlands of the Inn River heren in Upper Austria I was able to take several pictures of the water rail and it has a spot where it returns every year and I was able to see it several times at the same spot. It is a species that usually lives very hidden and seeing it is involves a lot of luck but since this bird returns to the same spot, you can be lucky that you can see it if you know a spot where they have been seen.
When I and Stefan found this spot at the shallow water we where pretty happy and we could take several pictures during several visits at the same spot. It showed itself pretty regular but always only for a few seconds befor it hides in the reed again.
