Now in Summer it is really difficult to get some bird pictures because you either need to get up very early or stay out very long before the birds come out of their hides. Some of them usually also avoide the hot time of the day and stay somewhere in the shaddow. In spring it is a lot easier to find some nice birds like these because a lot of them are looking for a mate and are a lot more trusting.
Wood sandpipers are some really nice waders that search shallow water for some small insects and invertibrates. Therefore it is a little bit easier to get some nice pictures of them when you position yourself on the ground near a water puddle with the birds nearby. They often come closer and closer to you when they know you are not a threat to them.
