Hello lovers of feathered friends. We welcome Round 67 of this awesome challenge, the SMAP or Show Me A Picture Contest, hosted by the very charming . With a little over 20 hours to the post payout I might as well say farewell to this Round as well and just hope I still make the deadline by the time I finish this post. The contest post with the rules can be found here.
The theme for this week is:
MALE BIRDS
I was actually going to feature again some male bird art I saw in an art exhibition held here in our city last month. However, yesterday I had the good fortune to meet and take pictures of a feathered friend which to my mind is as male as one can be. Really. Here he is.
The Bronze Turkey. It is also called the Standard Bronze. A domestic turkey breed said to have originated from Europe crossed with eastern wild turkeys. Fancy seeing one here, of all places.
I was in this place, which is a reclaimed area, to have my car tested for emission level which is a requirement for the annual registration renewal. While I was waiting for my turn, I happened to see something moving from afar that looked like a big dark blob with an open hand fan behind it. This is how I first saw it
Realizing what it is I immediately walked towards it and all the while thinking SMAP. SMAP. SMAP.
So I followed it around and took pictures of it which he did not seem to mind. In fact it even faced me and moved closer towards me. What a cooperative model.
And that's all for this post. You might be wondering what that boat is doing in the background. As I mentioned earlier this area is a reclaimed one which means the spot where I was standing on used to be the sea already. Cool huh? At the far end where the posts are is a coastal road which is being built and nearing completion.
