Hello Feathered Friends! Haven’t posted much in this community in a while but just caught a bird I haven’t seen before on . I know Hoopoes aren’t that rare but where I come from we rarely see them, and they are small enough not to notice, if you aren’t bird watching. If you have seen my latest traveling posts from Prachuap Khiri Khan you may recognize the scenery of the Airbase military camp we visited. This little birdie was roaming around the area where the Dusky Monkeys were.
The chase
We were just about to leave the monkeys and I saw this little Hoopoe hanging about the same trees. As I tried taking some photos of it while on the tree though, it flew away and our chase began.
He seemed hungry because he landed on the ground and started burrying himself in the grass areas picking up stuff from the ground. He was aware of me and kept moving away but didn’t seem that bothered.I managed to get quite close and we were going in circles around some trees for a while.
He got less scared of me as time passed by and striked some poses. I was glad he moved away from the sunny areas and went into the shades. It was midday and getting pretty hot already.
After a few circles around the last tree he flew back up near the monkeys. Didn't manage to get great photos of him on the tree because the sun was shining pretty bright in the back. That gave me pretty limited angles to take advantage of.
I haven't really tried capturing birds on camera before as I did with this one. I do get the thrill and how hard it is to snap a good photo now. Makes me appreciate some of the posts here even more. Today's post was a bit shorter than the usual travelling ones but I did want to share the experience of chasing this little birdie. I'm still in the process of editing the photos for the last post from Prachuap Khiri Khan so I hope that one is up soon. I may have to write it on my lap top when we arrive in Lipe but won't be the first time posting from a traveling spot. Have a great start of the week and I'll see you soon!
